The World Football Programme 107.9FM for Saturday May 30, 2020

Penny Tanner, Louis Prospero and Miranda Templeman lead this week’s football conversations.

With the return of training across Perth and easing of more restrictions across the Nation, we jump into discussions about when we will be able to see fixtures, what our local leagues will look like and how the return to football is practically being attended to.

State Team selections are continuing to roll out by Football West so we bandy around some formidable and memorable characters and leaders in our local game.

Joining us for two hours of football banter are the following guests:

John McKay, Bunbury Dynamos President. Football in the South West, Dynamo’s style. As training resumes, one of the most successful clubs in the area prepares for a makeover.

John Coyne, Football Legend, Father of some pretty awesome footballing sons. Sharing some memories and general football banter. Football West are rolling out more Best of the Best WA State Teams selected by you the fans. The Coyne Family features amidst the selections.

Molly Appleton, Molly’s Rants. Update on female football everywhere. We banter local football with our Junior Matilda, Miranda. What clubs are already back in training here in Perth, one of the safest places in the world. Some leagues have simply been cancelled, or postponed until restrictions are eased some more and some leagues simply have insufficient funds to continue and are considering their options. What is the status here in Australia of Women’s NPL, W-League and the Matildas? Further afield we banter how football in England, Germany and America is managing and how our Australian players are travelling, very far from home.

Simon Hill, Fox Sports. Simon has been a contributor to our show for over a decade. Football is gathering momentum as it leads into a return to competition here in Australia. What are the challenges and parameters we have to work with and how will it affect the viability of our status as the most participated sport in Australia? Is that significant when we are talking about the top end of the game and what resources do, we have right now to enable our sport to resume at the levels the fans are desperate to see? What leagues are underway around the world and what are some of the talking points about them?

The Studio Team for 2020 is Penny TannerHoath, Sean Kelly, Peter Szkiela, Don Evans, Louis Prospero, Derek Pollock and Miranda Templeman, talking everything football from 10am to noon, WA time, on Radio Fremantle 107.9 FM, every Saturday through to November.
